Yellow-legged Gull ~ 1st. W ~ Majorca, Spain - Oct '13

Wednesday, 30 October 2013

The actual numbers of gulls were low at every location except for the Municipal Dump at Son Reus where 100's of Ylg's were but this location wasn't good for images ..

The best locations were Port de Pollenca beach this due to the sun, was only a evening location and once the bathers had nearly all gone could i then take over ...

Port de Soller was another rewarding location this was best early morning before all the bathers arrived ...

Cala de sa Calobra again best before all the bathers arrive although here they still rest on the rocks close to the paths all day ...

Yellow-legged Gull ~ 1st. W

Most birds have replaced some coverts during the post-juvenile moult ..

This advanced individual has replaced almost all coverts ...

As few as 5% replace tail feathers in the post juvenile moult ...

This one needs to replace some !!!

My favourite of the 1st. cycle birds is this next image taken a Port de Pollenca ...

1/1250 ~ F4 ~ iso 640

Thanks to Lou for the info ...
