Coues's Arctic Redpoll & Ross's Goose ~ Norfolk ... 19.02.12

We set off at 06:00 for Norfolk heading towards Salthouse, first stop was Sculthorpe Moor a quick circuit revealed very little so it was back to the car for some cold KFC from yesterday ... nice !!! ... Next stop was Kelling for the Redpoll gave it 10 minutes then moved the 1 1/2 miles to Salthouse.
Bitterly cold wind but still loads of stupid people walking infront of the lens !! and dog walkers are mindless idiots that can see what your doing but flush the birds all the same !!
A flighty flock of 60+ Snow Buntings and a few Knot at touching distance still weren't enough to get me fired up into action, so after an hour it was back to Kelling.
Standing in the road looking into someones back garden with 12+ Lesser, 1 Common and after a few minutes in flew the Coues's coming to the niger feeder. Now you could of stood there all day taking 100's of shots of  Redpoll's with so many twigs in the background, and some did just that !! but a handful of shots then the flock flew and so we left as well ...

Coues's Arctic Redpoll

We failed to find a Great Grey Shrike near Egmere and continued on for Titchwell.
A walk out along the beach and back again, very few birds were giving themselves up for flight shots ..

Curlew

Lapwing

Shoveler

Spotted Redshank

Grey Plover

On the way out a Barn Owl was quartering the marsh opposite the centre.
Going home via a recce of another Barn Owl site for a little latter in the year, we were near Ringstead on the Burnham Rd where we came across loads of Pink-footed Geese, we could see that the flock went over and around out of view, so drove for a better look and found the odd one out !!

Ross's Goose

We estimated c.5000 Pink-Feet.
